The “Pay-It-Forward” movement is not a new concept. There have been small acts and events of this notion all throughout history. It became even more widely known after the release of the film “Pay It Forward” in 2000, which was based off of the novel by Catherine Ryan Hyde.
In straight forward terms, to “pay it forward” is when someone does something for you, you continue that kindness by doing something good for someone else. It can be illustrated in the situation of buying the food of the person behind you in the drive thru. They would then “pay it forward” by doing the same thing for the person behind them, and so on.
The hope of all this is for good deeds and acts of kindness to build exponentially in communities. A small gesture of generosity to another can be more beneficial than many think. It can encourage more unity one small act at a time. The best part is, paying it forward can be a part of anyone’s daily life. Whether you decide to take up a life of service to the community or join the business world, you can incorporate the philosophies of the Pay it Forward Movement into your career. Even as you build your professional network, people who you’ve paid it forward to will certainly hold you in a higher light than individuals they’ve never met or even have had bad experiences with. So paying it forward can enhance your personal life and your professional life as well. Another rewarding way to be involved in the movement is giving to those in need. Homelessness and poverty is in every community and these ones are not excluded from this concept.
“A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” – Amelia Earhart
